"My art is informed by the colours, light and shape in flowers, trees, animals and the land around me. I love simple things and am enamoured by the sincerity and beauty of nature, and often embed the human form within nature. In songwriting I enjoy blending words and melody and feel this translates through my visual art with decisions I make in composition, design and application. Employing mixed media and oils, I am inspired to make beautiful, uplifting art that connects and communicates with my audience on an emotional level."

Merryn Lamb has a Bachelor of Education and Arts from Melbourne University, Australia and is a Secondary Teacher having taught in Australia, England and Canada. She has taught drama, music, English, media studies and art. She is a singer songwriter and has performed at festivals around Australia. Merryn has worked at Kelowna Art Gallery hosting exhibition tours and art classes. She has recently graduated from the Milan Art Institute and is currently working as an artist.

Merryn’s work draws from nature, uses earthy colours and has an ethereal flow. She explores themes and subjects that produce peaceful, yet powerful and contemplative pieces. “I am drawn to subjects and images that are either from nature or reflect nature, and am captured by interesting shapes, the play of light and earthy colours. I love to approach my painting like I am writing a song, where it provides a visual experience and the singing of it is beautiful, uplifting and moves the viewer emotionally.”

Originally from Australia, Merryn is currently living in Canada with her husband and three children and works from her home studio in Kelowna surrounded by orchards, mountains and the Okanagan Lake. She feels blessed for the love and connections she has with both countries and the inspiration for creativity they provide her. She has sold her paintings in Australia and Canada and is thrilled to have her work exhibited at the Kelowna Art Gallery in the 2024 Member’s exhibition. Merryn enjoys working on large scale paintings and commissions and would love to open her studio providing a place to exhibit and share community art and provide a performance venue. Merryn is planning on writing and illustrating a story book about the adventures of her crazy dog Bruno.
